Should I get rid of my Flowmaster?
Wow guys, you are digging up my old stuff.
Well, I do have the Dynomouth system on my car and it sounds awesome. At first I had it without a cat and IT WAS LOUD!!!! Since I put on my MAC headers, I replaced the cat and it sound O-SO-SWEET.
As for the backpressure, it did take a good bit of it away which is noticable down low but boy does it scream up in the higher rpm's. I dont really know why it takes away the backpressure other than it flowing too freely, Im not that smart yet.

All of the restriction hype about Flowmasters is BS, All crossflow mufflers suck in general but the only one that out flows Flowmaster is the SLP and Ultraflow style but they are both just neatly wrapped glass packs.

I just got an american thunder catback flowmaster system for my car this past fall and spent $250.00 Was this a waste?????
But But Bo you said you like my flows. Seriously, why not a catback? I don't think that is what you have right? That was why the bullet and all that. I like Allen's setup that is one of the best LS1 sounds I have heard, but any of the LT1 catback systems (I think) sound better. BTW, my suspension stuff should be here next week. See ya.

I keep hearing people speak negatively about Flowmaster, but I haven't seen any type of flow comparisons that show higher restriction. Does anyone know of a comparison that shows actual flow between different mufflers? I flowed a 50 series cat-back on a flow stand and got about 3 inches H20 (~.2 inches Hg)restriction at 700 SCFM. That's pretty free-flowing, but I haven't checked the 80 series cat-back. I doubt it's too much higher though. The stock one is much more restrictive than that.
I think most people are just ranting because you cannot see through them like SLP and Ulra Flo's. However that doesn't mean the are restrictive. Look at the inside of a OEM or replacement Crossflow thats restrictive. Mufflers are pressureized when ever the car is on it's not like everytime you floor it the exhaust must find it's way out all over again.
And the sound is great too, I like my car to sound and look fast not look cool but sound like crap. (ie "mouth" systems)
