Should I drive my car?

(revised forum 2 hours ago)The car doesn't over heat!! I changed another sensor this time it was the sensor on the block the gauge. When I turn the AC the fans don't come on and they never did. The old sensor fell apart after 150,000 miles. I let the car idle for about 10 min and drove it in about 5 min it ran at 210 and for 10 min and let it idle in the garage stayed at 205- 210!!! It was kinda weird that the new sensor guage said 210 real fast, thats odd. I lost some coolant and quickly put the new sensor in. Do you have to let the coolant drain? I didn't want to wait so I hurried with the new sensor. I went mostly down then the automatic rachet that I got hit the heads!! I couldn't go any deeper and 2 or 3 threads still show on the sensor!! IS it all teh way end? I tried my best with a basic wrench and it would go any tighter. The sensor isn't leaking so I guess its all the way in.

1.) Bleeding the coolant for the last 3 months did crap.
2.)Changed:Sensor on water pump still over heats unless you drive it or rev it then it shoots down to 210 from next to the red. The sensor on the water pump actually worked for 2 weeks. Then I was back to the same crap.
3.) Switched relays they all worked.
4.) Ran the ac and the fans never turned on
5.) Mechanic used this tool to test the fuse box box and relays and he touched something and the fans went on!!!
6.) mechanic bleed the car didnt work
7.) I changed the guage sensor and I think it worked!!!!! First time working on the car bymyself. No room to change it, it sucked.

OK you need to find out why your fans arnt comming on, if the relay is working then the PCM is not sending the signal to the fans to turn them on, So like i said above do a SEARCH for fans not comming on, and follow whatever they say to check the relays and the sesors that control the PCM turning on the fans... If all else fails do a search for fan switch and hook up a manual switch to turn the fans on.

Also with it over heating the way you are talking and all the miles on your car i wouldnt rule out a leaking head gasket blowing air into your coolant system or a bad water pump.

When your car heats up are you getting heat from the air vents if you turn on the heat?

Yes

I get hot air from the vents. Once and a while the car runs real hot some days it doesn't act gay. Trust me it isn't a blown head gasket this problem has been happening on and off for 5 months.

i had a code once for a ac system pessure sensor circut and the fans would not come on. cleared the codes and they started working. have you checked for codes yet? if all else fails you can get a manual fan switch.

How do you put photo's on here. I want to show the new sensor versus the old. The old one doesn't show threads when its in the block but the new temp sensor shows them and I can't tighten it anymore. I used the new automatic ratchet wrench from Sears its a 13/ 16 and it cost 26 bucks! I tighten it but it stops because the ratchet hits the head! I used a plain wrench and it wont get any tighter. Do you have to use a deep socket?? The old Temp sensor crumpled in a million pieces so thats the reason why it read it as be over "heated" and the gauge was acting hay wire. I just don't want to drive and the sensor fallin out and the car pissin coolant out and I blow my engine. Do I have to bleed the coolant?

Thanks guys.

As long as it is reasonably tight and does not leak, it should be ok. Some teflon tape or pipe dope on the threads usually helps the seal. If you swapped it quickly with little coolant loss, you probably don't have to worry about bleeding the system.

Thanks shoe box

I think maybe the kid gave me a wrong temp sensor it might be a longer sensor but what are the chances. Im just afraid it will build pressure then the sensor will shoot out

Borrow a pressure tester from AZ and see if it holds.

you can go to autozone.com and it pick your car and most of the time will have a photo of the part...so you can do that and match up the picture/part number.

And just because the car has been doing this for 5 month does NOT mean it COULDNT be the head gasket.

When the HG on my car was going out it would only over heat like once a week, then as time went on it would do it more often, after about 4 months of driving every day 60+ miles it started to over heat every day.
Oh and the reason i knew it was a head gasket leak before was because i put a washcloth in the end of the muffler and drove around a little...when i pulled it out it was damp and smelled like antfreez
