should i change cams??

As my short block has come together, my plans for the car have changed alot. At first i was planning on having my 383 forged LE3 trans am as a car i could drive around everywhere but i got another car for that now. Heres what i was wondering...since i will only be putting maybe 6k miles on the car max and only driving on the street maybe 100 miles a week, could i benifit from switching from the LE3 cam to a solid roller? Having to adjust the rockers is not really an issue for me either.

Re: should i change cams??

I know ya sent me a e-mail on this but....

How much has changed for you? For what you have there, the setup can go more aggressive on a hyd roller without issue, but it might be iffy on a solid roller. I could do a SR cam for that valvetrain that would work, but we would have to match the rockers to it and make sure everything was ok.

Let me think about what I would do with this more and tell us how the project has changed and we will go from there. The RPM range hasn't changed so we might not have to screw with anything.

Re: should i change cams??

Well i mean in the begining i was going to have to depend on driving the car every day...now that i have a another car so i will only be driving this maybe 100 miles a week if that and mailly racing it. Lloyd did an amazing job on the heads as you know. Right now, i have not purchased the rockers, lifters, or any valvetrain parts so i was wanted to post this before going ahead and ordering everything. I guess the only thing that may be an issue would be the springs on the heads now if they were not good enough for what you design. I'm not worried about already having the one cam i already bought from you b/c i can always use that in another project so i would not be loosing anything...Just let me know what you think would work out the best.

I might be able to come up with something to work with those springs since you don't have the rocker arms yet.... Switching over to some solid roller lifters on top of it, it could have some good results.

Let me do some work on that and see if I can find some power for you, if so I'll send you a e-mail with what I think the change will do and we can go from there.
