Question Should I buy???

Alright new guy onboard. I was recommend to this site. I was riding home from work today and I ran into something that caught my eye. So I pulled up. It was a 1997 Z28 LT1 Camaro for sale. It had 74k miles and was going for $9,999. Like that dollar makes a big difference. The exterior and interior is real nice. It is T-Top with nice exhaust. Test drove it and it went smooth, even when i pressed on the gas. It was kind of shaky when i took off. But you could bearly feel it. Maybe it needs a alignment. I am really on a tight budget and I was just wanting some opinions. I am young and dumb and new to buying a used car. Thanks!!!

You could most likely find a better deal. The miles aren't bad. Just for comparison, I got my 30th Anniversary (1997) Z28 with 88,000 miles for $8,200. Great condition. Ran just fine(just wait until you start modding, then you'll run into trouble) and was clean inside and out. All mine had on it was a Flowmaster when I bought it.

I'd say wait a little bit, soon you'll be able to buy an LS1 for that price.

yeah, i got my 95 for $5,000...ran great, but after mods/higher rpms, it spun a bearing...u can find them for cheaper than 10k...if u want put some new bumpers on one (paint chipping off), i got a 94 with a new motor, and rebuilt trans with shift kit for sale...$5,500...but if u want a newer one, look around...you can deffinatly find a better deal out there..and welcome to the f body forum, if you buy one, you wont be sorry, there great cars!!

opti opti opti and if the transmission wasn't takin care of it will go out kind of quick. I have a 95 z28 with 106k on it now bought it 2 years ago with 65k on it. Since then i have replace water pump, opti, and rebuilt the transmission. The your typical matance stuff. over all very good care and if taken care of can last forever just make sure you know about the history of the car b4 you buy.

I bought my 95Z28 for $2,000 at a GM dealer. Granted it needed both power window motors and rear struts. It had 102,000 miles on it and needed a cleaning inside and out. It was a trade in on a new car, got a great deal. Also my buddy is selling his 94Z28 w/90,000 miles and 40,000 miles on brand new GM installed LT1 that runs 12.8 in the quarter mile and is wanting $6,500. There is no way he will get that, he has had it for sale for about 6 months and has lowered it from $9,000. Low ball the guy, he may that the offer.

How much do you have now? Offer the guy about $500 less then what you have so that you have enough to register and pay the taxes on it. Im 23 and have bought 9 camaros since I was 17, I know how it feels when you first see the car and want to buy it now at what ever cost. Trust me, wait it out, will get a good deal!
