Should the clutch slave cylinder look like this? PICS

I was looking at my slave cylinder today, since I'm getting ready to drop the trans and just wondered if this could have anything to do with my problems. It looks like there was a plastic band that goes around the rubber boot, and that plastic band is broken. Here are a few pics.

Nope, that's not a problem. That plastic band actually connects to the cup on the end of the pushrod, during shipping. You cut it when you install the new slave, and the only piece that really needs to be there is that little cup. Often the two plastic zip-tie like ends are just left there, but they can also be removed and tossed out.
