Short block storage, moist environment.

Hey guys,

Thursday Ill be picking up my shortblock assembly from the machine shop. Ill be assembling it myself at my grandparent's house which is a block from the beach. I was wondering what preperations I should do to prevent rusting. Once assembled The shortblock will have to sit for a month or two while im getting money together for the top end of the motor. Ive heard to give anything that will be exposed a good coating of WD40? Anything else you guys can suggest.

Thanks
Steve

Yeah, I suppose that the WD40 will work. I have also heard of guys using white lithium grease because it sticks to the block. Also, get you one of those block bags like they have in Summit so that you can seal it up.

I would lightly oil any exposed unpainted surfaces, and bag it. Just make sure you clean the surfaces before assembling things.
