short block or long block?
Ok, here we go. A short block is any motor, minus heads intake, injection, etc. A long block can be that same motor with heads intake, etc. Just bolt on your tin and your ready to go. I think some mod motor fords have 6 bolt mains, but not LT1s. Either 2 bolt (most are) or 4 bolt. The bolts their referring to are the main cap bolts that hold the crank in, their under the oil pan. Hope this helps, prorac1
the reason i ask is because a guy said he had a lt1 longblock for sale without heads, and i was confused, also i read that a board member had a 4 bolt lt1, and i thought they were 2 , werent the lt1s in covettes 4 bolt?
thanks for all the help!

Tell the guy he is an idiot if he is selling a longblock minus the heads. Because that would indeed be a LT1 shortblock.
ALL LT1 Fbodies (except for possibly the LT4 cars) are 2 bolt mains. Ls1 cars are I believe 6 bolt mains. and I believe corvette LT1s are 4 bolt mains, but I am not sure on that.

ok, we just thought you were stupid , lol
. Yes, i agree, that would be confusing. But as far as im concerned its not a long block if it dosent have heads (intake optional). And yes, corvettes had the 4 bolt LT1, as did the LT4s. Hope this helped, prorac1
