shoebox thanks but

Hey shoebox thanks for all your help on the bcm prob on my car, it is the bcm I wiggled it tapped on it and it turned the radio on and off. So its the bcm unplugged it and evrything still turns on and off when driving ,radio. Now when buying a new bcm on a 97 trans-am do you just plug it in and leave your key on for 10 min. the guy at the draler told me you plug it in so it can learn the key resistance for about 10 12 min. Just to make sure is that all you have to do... Thanks again for all you help...... ps OH I know earlier models you have to reprogram thats why im asking....

A brand new BCM will program itself when you turn the key ON for the first time. It can only do this once for the life of the BCM and it will be programmed to accept the key pellet resistance of the key that was used. Turn the key to ON and then start the engine. The security lamp should go out in about 5 seconds, indicating that the BCM is now programmed. If you get a flashing security lamp, the BCM is not programmed and probably not reading the key.
