Shoebox...need a bolt size please

Ok bud I was wondering if you know the size of the bolt that goes on the drivers side bottom of the block... same thread as the knock sensor on the left side (a coolant drain plug). I was at speed shops and home depot today with the knock sensor and no one had the thread. If I can get the dimensions I can call this Bolt & Nut place... thanks!

Hardware store is where you want to go. It is a tapered pipe plug. The book says 1/4-18 NPTF but it sure seems bigger than that (more like 3/8 or 1/2 to me). Too bad I don't still have my engine out, I could have measured it for you.
Again, take your knock sensor with you.

It's 1/4 x18 NPT [National Pipe Taper Thread]for the block drains..
Any hardware store[AND home Depot or Lowe's etc..] will have one..
Ask for a brass 1/4" tapered pipe plug..

Yes it is Rob..
I think the confusion comes from thinking 1/4" BOLT sizes as compared to the 1/4" pipe plug sizes[no comparison really]

1/4" x [blah] machine threads [on bolts] are about 5/16" OD

1/4" male tapered pipe plug threads are a hair over 1/2" OD [due to that 1/4" being the ID of the pipe [think galvanized plumbing pipe.. or 'black' gas pipe sizes, etc..]

Yeah, that always confuses me. I am not a real engineer, "I just play one on T.V.".
