Shoebox, HELP

Me again. Just installed my new opti. Car has no power, wont idle, and seems to be way rich. The opti went on fine, I guess, it was bout 1/4" from being flush with the timing cover. It didnt seem to "draw" it up when I put the bolts in, I took it easy when installing them. If the dowel pin is too long could it cause any of these syptoms. It has a hard time starting also, cranks fine for a sec. then it cranks real slow like its high in time. When driving it doesnt seem to be missing, just has no power. I was thinking maybe the plugs where fouled some and it would clear up, but no luck. Something else strange, low trac light came on while car was just sitting there, and the abs "box" makes a clicking noise when u turn the key to the run position. Hasnt done it in the last few times though. I pulled the vac. line off of the regulator and no fuel in there. Car has new coil. I'm thinking bout hauling this thing to the dealer and see if they can find anything, I'm lost on this one

The mounting ears of the opti should have been flush and touching the block when you put it on. I can't keep up with all these posts , is the cam new? Did you measure how far the pin was protruding from the cam gear? With all the dowel pin posts recently, you should have been doubley sure of the pin length.

Still, the problem could be something else. How is the battery charge?

1/4" from being flush? IT SHOULD BE FLUSH! Same with mine, it went on fine and looked flush but it wasn't touching the block all the way. Same symptoms as you...

Cam is new,306, new cloyes elec. w/p headers etc. Before the car quit it ran perfect for 55 miles then it would'nt start. Checked ICM and replaced coil and new opti. I cut the dowel pin to the same length as the factory one (it was too long). The old opti looked normal where the dowel went. Can u tell me how far it should stick out with the cloyes timing set? I just drove it down the road again and it has no power at all. If u downshift it will backfire out the exhaust kinda bad, and it does seem to be missing at low rpm's.

Protrusion from the stock gear, I measured ~.410". Don't know if the Cloyes would be the same. I would asume it would, though. The best way, would be to use some clay to see how far into the opti drive it is going.
