when doing the fan mod, what gauge wire did you uses to run from under the hood to the toggle switch and to the led's? I have not done mine yet but will prolly do it tomorrow or sat and want to make sure that I use the right size of wire. And what size of switch did you use? the jumbo one or the smaller one? sorry to keep asking questions just want to do it right and not screw anything up.

The relay control wires from the pcm in the factory harness are .35 sq. mm. That equates to a 22 AWG wire. You should be fine with that (or larger).

hey shoebox i hooked up my switch and when I throw the switch to one side the fan comes on, but when I throw it to the other side nothing happens, does this really matter as long as I get it to come on when switch is to one side?

Sounds like you did not get something connected. I am assuming you get low speed only?

hey shoebox, the diagram that you gave me for the 97 lt1, does the resistors HAVE to be what you show on there, as I must have fried the one for the low speed, cause if i hook the wire up past the resistor, it works, the high is fine, and radio shack does not carry the specified resistor that you have on there, and the only place here that i know of that has it is 30 miles away and is also closed today.

ok when i have this all connected, which i do, is "low" one fan and "high" 2 fans? That seems to be the deal with mine.

You should get both fans low with the green relay wire and both high with the blue (the same way it works when the pcm commands them on). The 47 ohm resistors in this diagram show to be 1 watt, but I am pretty sure I have heard people say that 1/2 watt will work. Those resistors are there to keep from setting a DTC when you use them with the key ON.

ok all i know is that when i flip the switch one way, and then go to the other, it definately gets louder, as if both fans came on or they both just got faster. I will have to remake my setup with the resistors and put those in, right now it is just hard wired. I will redo my setup tomorrow. Thanks shoe

On a fan system with 3 relay (which yours should have), both fans come on at low speed and both on at high speed. You should never have only one fan on.

If you happened to hook up your fan switch where only the blue wire was grounded (and not also the green), you would get only the RH fan on at high speed (which is wrong). Don't rely on your ears - it's too hard to tell. Visually check to see what fans are actually running.

all i know is that i have the switch wired EXACTLY like the diagram and the only thing that i do not have right now is the diodes and the resistors, I will have to redo the green side tomorrow since i must have either fried the resistor on that side or did not get a good connection . I know that if i connect the wire on that side on one side of the resitor it works but if i put it before the resistor it does not, so I assume i got it hot while using the soddering iron on it.
