Shift at what RPMs?

I'm going to be getting a shift light for my car soon and was wondering at what RPMs with my set up should I shift at when i'm racing the car?

I'm taking a stab at this but I think you want to shift once you have reached your peak horsepower, if you know what it is.

With the stock cam my car thens to lay over after 5000-5300RPM. Given that, I would shift 1-2 at 5500 and the other gears around 5000 or so.

i know im probly overdoing it, but the dyno never really showed enough drop in horse to shift that low, i shift around the 6400 mark, and all i really have it the hypertech with other really minor bolt ons
