I just installed my shift kit, and readjusted the TV cable. It seems like my tranny takes forever to shift now though It also shifts extremely hard between 1st and 2nd, but not between 2nd and 3rd or 3rd and 4th.... Could my TV cable be bad? Or do shift kits raise shift points? (My car is shifting from first to second at 30 mph, even at part throttle) Any help is really appreciated, I've been messing with the stupid thing for 3 days now.

 

Maybe you have slack in the TV cable? Just a guess.

 

Yeah i'd say your tv cable is out of adjustment. Last summer after me and Tony installed my converter and transgo, my car wouldnt shift out of 1st without chirping the tires b/c it was shifting late. I was also hitting the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift when i was at wot. After some adjusting on the tv cable, it was shifting perfect.

 

I was told normal shifts for a 700R are 1st-2nd is 15-18, and 2nd-3rd is 35-38. I think 30 is too soon and 35 is kinda late, I have mind to shift at about 33mph. Try moving the cable towards the firewall and remember it dont take much movement in the cable to made a big difference.

 

thanks for the info everybody. I adjusted it again this morning and it shifts at about the right speeds, but doesn't feel any different than when it was stock
