Shift knob raises up, Trans Mount??
Shift **** raises up, Trans Mount??
I have a 94 z28 with 6 speed. It has about 155,000 miles on it. Just noticed this week that when I start to take off in first gear the ****er seems to raised up in my hand about a 1/2 inch. Also if I jump on the gas shifter raises up. Don't here any funny clunks or sound like most transmission mount posts say. Is this a broken trans mount or motor mount problem? Does the trans mount bolt on securely or does the trans just rest on the mount? If I jack up the trans it lifts right off the rear mount. Is that whats is supposed to happen?
Also most post say they get a poly one from summit. The only trans mount I found in there catalog is a general one that says it fits most Chevys from 1955 and up...
Thanks for any input

Your mount probably isn't broken, just worn out. Before I replaced mine I could get under the car and move the tranny up and down by hand. I replaced both the trans mount and the torque arm mount with Energy Suspension components from Summit. The total cost was about $30.
