Shift kit
yes and no. mine has 92,000 miles on it and i'm putting a shift kit in it. just like with any mod you do to your car, you're pushing it harder and you can expect it's life-line to dwindle a bit. if you're easy on it when you're not racing or just ****ing around... you shouldn't have too many problems. shift kits don't generally hurt too much, but you're going to get more wear and tear than you would out of leaving your tranny stock. eventually, your tranny is going to break down and need to be rebuilt or replaced anyhow... and, the way i see it... it's what i want to do, and when it breaks down, i'm just gonna replace it with something better anyhow...
bottom line. wear and tear on your tranny is undoubtedly going to increase... just be easy on it during normal driving, and you'll be doing just fine. expect it to break down sooner, but i wouldn't count on a shift kit making your tranny go quits in a month or anything. i'm sure it still has a good bit of life left in it.

With 100k on it I would be leary of putting in a shift kit.
I put in a shift kit at 50k on my 94 and I lost 2nd gear at 125k.
Yours may be shifting fine but the shift kit might end its life sooner and thats alot of miles on that tranny.
Just my 2 cents but the LT1 motor, throw anything you want at it, its good to go, the tranny however needs building to handle any real power.
I had a CAI, catback and gears and I killed my tranny at 125k so take it for what its worth.
If you have the money to rebuild it if it goes out then go for it.
If not I would not take the chance.
Its your car though, just tellin ya what I think.

I put a shift kit in at 50k and has been fine. I just replaced my first tranny mount though. I got stage 2 B&M. It shifts awesome. Perfect every time. I get a great 3rd patch. I would upgrade the tranny mounts and not go with one of the aggresive stages also. But a great investment.
