So i've been searching for a problem to my noise and i've had the tranny out and everything in order to fix my RMS and check some other sutff.


Now down in the hole that i guess the Pilot Bushing would go in? There are round metal shavings in the shape of a coil, kind of like a spring, and and a few small round pellets laying in the hole. What would cause this?! And would this be the cause of a clanking sound i'm getting while the engine is on.

I'm trying to get pictures but i can't get the camera to work on my computer.

looks like your pilot bearing went out. remove it and install a bushing

Would that cause a loud clanking sound? Rather the clutch is in or out?

 

it will cause a rattle

Sounds like some damage is being done by whatever that is. Your pilot bearing may be going nuts.

 

Wow. Have you checked to make sure your none of the rockers fell off the studs?

You think there could be something wrong with the crank?

I've checked the rockers and lifters. Adjusted them twice and replaced all the lifters on the passenger side.

I took a screw driver to all the rockers and they all sounded about the same. and to varies other places with no conclusion.

The cars been down for quite a few days. And its long past being a pain in the ***.

 

Based on what you already found, the pilot bearing is the prime culprit. You will have to pull the transmission to take a look. AHARTZ28 gave you the scoop.

 

Cool deal. I already have the trans pulled. I'll be replacing it tomorrow and we'll see.
