setting my valves???

alright, i have set them about 5 times and have used alot of different techniques, but none of them seem to work. What is the best way to do it. I have a 95 ta with the lt4 hotcam kit, with roller rockers and polly locks.

How did you set them? what makes you think they're not set properly? SA roller rocker are normaly noiser. Anyway, I set mine with engine off, then start engine and recheck every one by loosining it till it tick and then tightning untill its quite. I then turn it 1/4 turn to lock it in place.

i have set it many different ways, one way it was a friends way that i dont know how he did it, then i set mine with the engine on and when loosened it till it ticked and then tightened it back till i could hear any more and then i did a half turn. Then i locked it with the polly lock.
The other way was that i did the spin the push rod and then when i got it to stop spinning i bumped the car over and set every valve by there self and also did the half turn.
the reason i think my valves are off is that i have no power from 0-3000 rpms. If i take a turn i cant even make it fishtail. I used to make if fishtail with only half the gas. Also it is idiling at 500 sometimes.

k. here ya go. failproof method my friend

go TDC #1 . ( do a search on Shoebox's site and itll tell you which ones to set , sorry bout that).

dont go by the "spin the pushrod" method. go at it by moving the pushrod up and down while tightening, till theres no more up/down movement. it WILL still spin though. tighten 1/2 turn past that and tighten the poly. thats it

half are done at TDC#1 and the other half at TDC#6. ill do a search and get the right ones for you. hth

one last question i hope, How do i know when it a cylinder is a tdc, i mean is both exh and int. pushrods down or up?
I already tried the tdc #1 and #6 and i set everything and it made all kind of noise. So i guess my hub has came off before i bought the car.
