SES Light Flashing Intermitantly...

If I remember correctly, this means Random Cylinder Misfire, correct?

I replaced my Opti probably due to rain last year, and if I'm right, looks like I'm doing it agiain. This sucks. Great way to start off the year. No E-cutout for me. I tested it out when it was warmed up, tried to keep it at 2000 RPM's and it would jump around 1800-2400, also my Hi-Fans kept coming on when they weren't supposed to. I could actually hear it misfire, too.

I'll go ahead and get it scanned, but I'm pretty positive thats what it is. What are my chances of it drying off in the next couple days? It won't be driven again until monday. Also, who do I contact to get Opti's for cheap around here?

Thanks guys...

Ryan

Re: SES Light Flashing Intermitantly...

Well I started it up and it immediately started to flash again, with my hi-fans comeing on and EGR going off everytime it Flashed on. I'm pretty sure it's the Opti, but it drives fine so far when both cold and warm. I can tell that it wants to rev th engine sometimes but I don't think it is completely gone yet. Anyways...

Is there something else I should look for that gives similar symptoms? It will be getting scanned tomorrow.

Your signature indicates you have a 1994. They do NOT have misfire detection. I'm not aware of any problem in OBD-I that causes the SES light to flash. Almost sounds like you've got an intermittent connection on one of the sensors, or the IC Module.

yeah, flashing on an OBD2 car means the PCM sees a possible catalyst damaging condition(usually misfire)

Hmmmm... All the more reason to get this scanned tomorrow. I'll keep you guys updated.

By the way, on the 4 mile (about 15 minute) round-trip from work to the gas station to home, the light stopped flashing on the way home. Definately going to get it scanned tomorrow to see if it has stored any codes, and I'll let you guys know which one's (if any) it finds.
