SES light due to inproper fan operation?...help please

my car (93 TA) is throwing an SES code...heres what i've got, seems as the pcm goes into closed loop both of my fans start running and continue running until i shut the car off, and it pops a SES code...could it it just be my fan switch (between cyl 1 and 3)?...do 4th gens throw a code for inproper fan operation?...thanks guys

The cyl head sending unit is just for the guage..
The PCM sending unit is in the water pump housing..
It sounds to me that the fans are probably OK but the car is in 'default' or 'limp mode' and that runs the fans and sets an SES...
Since you have a 93 you can get the DTC's [trouble codes] with the 'paper clip method' you don't need a scanner like the rest of us [94-7]

so the sending unit in the head is just a sending unit for the gauges?...i thought the sensor in the water pump was the CTS (coolant temp sensor)...does this double as the fans switch?...i know on the 3rd gens the fan switch was between cyl 6-8....i'll try the paper clip method, used it many times on my speed densisty thirdgen...thanks

Your 1993 ECM is essentially your "fan switch". It take the sensor reading from the water pump and turns on the fan(s) based on it's programming.
