SES light on...Code P1444..whats wrong?
Re: SES light on...Code P1444..whats wrong?
Seems you went from 441 which is no flow during purge to the opposite. 1441 is flow during non purge. There is no 1444 code. Perhaps your fix wasn't as good as you thought it was.
You didn't mess with the purple wire going to the evap switch did you? The difference in the 2 faults is 441 is that purple wire had a low signal and the 1441 is it has a high signal. Could be you had a 1441 the whole time but the wire was broke or bad connection? Then when the wire problem was repaired, it finally detected the 1441 fault? To fix that problem you need a scanner that can command the purge solenoid to come on and go off and then you have to check the status of EVAP switch to see if it's responding. You could also manually apply vacuum to the switch and see if it repsponds. However the switch must be checked while connected to the system to see if it responds to differences in the solenoids position.
Also we don't know anything about your vehicle
To know if anything else might be causing your symptom.

Re: SES light on...Code P1444..whats wrong?
That code was already fixed, P0441. It was a bad charcoal canister. I know the code is not on shoeboxs list, which is why im asking for help...

You could go to the AutoTap website and punch it in to see what comes up. You won't find anything
. http://www.autotap.com/codes.asp
Just maybe you read the code incorrectly? That's why we're trying to help
My goof, it is 1441. So, now what could be wrong??? Ive been dealing with this emmision crap for a month or so now. I have replaced the Purge sol, the Purge sol switch, and the charcoal canister. There is nothing more emmision wise to replace. When I installed the new charcoal canister, I also replaced all the rubber hoses under the hood, and blew the line runnning along side the fuel line out with an air compressor to remove any charcoal sucked into the line. What could possibly be wrong?? The whole system is new? I also put a new gas cap on...

it could be wiring, however, first, mke sure the vacuum lines are hooked up correctly at the purge solenoid, if they are backwards they can cause this, also, make sure the solenoid is still mounted right side up
Ok, checked the vacuum lines, all hooked up correctly, verified it by the markings on the sol indicating the line from the charcoal canister. The gas cap is brand new, it was replaced 3 weeks ago. All the wiring looks fine, no bare spots, kinks, burn spots. The sol is mounted the right way, it has a plastic catch that prevents it from being mounted upside down, and the same for the switch.
So, the code means that there is flow from the charcoal canister when there shouldnt be flow? Correct?
