SES Light came on in my 97 Z today...what to expect???

SES Light came on in my 97 Z today...what to expect???
Just driving home from work, normal driving and taking it easy. All of the sudden my SES light pops on and stays on. I needed gas, so i stopped to get gas and turned the car off thinking mabye the SES light wouldnt come back on when i started it, but it stayed on the entire time. Its not missing or surging, has great power, all fans are coming on properly. Anyone know what i can expect? If its still on later today, i'm going to have it scanned to see whats up. I've never had any problems out of the car, so i dont know where to start..lol Thanks for reading and for any ideas.

I just hope it's not your O2's. There freaking expensive. I had bad O2's one time which set my SES light. The next time it came on it was because the MAF was dirty. Could be anything tho. Keep us updated.
