ses light 95lt1

Question ses light 95lt1

im getting a random ses light on my 95 ta. the ses light comes on sometimes when i drive it for the first mile then it goes off after about 10 minutes,it doesnt do it every day just sometimes.. when its on i cant tell a difference in the way the engine opperates.. could it be becuase i have my smog pump removed????

If you didn't have the PCM programmed to account for that, then I would say it is a very likely candidate.

Since you have a 95, its possible to remove the AIR pump, and NOT get an SES light. As long as there is a good fuse in the circuit, it doesn't matter that the harness connector isn't connected to the pump. The electrical circuit is the only thing that is checked in OBD-I.

But, rather than guess, get it scanned to see why the light is coming on. Even if it goes out, the code is still stored in the PCM for a while.
