the ses light will come on most of the time when you start the car and it will stay on until you make one full pass down the 1/4 mile then i will stay off untill you leave and once you do it will come back on. any help will be appreciated

I'll guess EGR, but why not have it scanned and know exactly what it is?

 

My car's SES light used to come on whenever the car was moving, and go off when the car slowed to a stop. This was because I was in the process of installing a remote starter on the car and I didn't connect both ignition wires, I connected only one of them. Just letting you know that in my situation it was an electrical problem.

 

is there any way i can bypass the egr and see if the ses will go off? oh wait if it aint there the ses light wont go off will it. hehe
well any other ideas will be appreciated.

The check engine light is not there so you can spend the next month guessing what may be wrong. It is tied to specific diagnostic codes. When the light is illuminated, you have set one (or more) of these codes. I think Autozone will scan the code for free. Get it scanned, find out what is wrong, and then you'll be better equipped to come and ask for advice on fixing it.

 

the trouble is i dont have an autozone here in WA so would shucks be the same thing?
