SES on CHECk this out!!!!!
Well a few months ago my SES light came on so I had my friend with a snap on scanner read the codes. The only code that came up was the cam shaft positioning sensor was bad or needed to be aligned well I quickly found out that it can’t be moved so I went out and got a new one. After replacing it I went for a test drive. Everything was fine until I decided to turn the car off and restart it. Well 3 seconds after I did so the SES light came right back on. What else could be wrong????? I have a 97 z28 M6 with 83,000 on the clock. Oo yea and the light is ALWAYS on the only times that it turns off is if the car sits for a few days. Then after about ½ hr of driving its back on..
Any new codes?
Here's the list of codes for 97 LT-1's

I think plaes like www.jegs.com , www.summitracing.com , and www.thunderracing.com sell them your looking for an OBD I scanner if its a 95 and an OBD II scanner if its 96 or up. They run between $150 and $200 last time i checked.

If the CPS is new and the wiring harness checks out, then it's the PCM. There are flow charts for diagnostics. They really do work if you use them.

If you want to do your own troubleshooting, you need a manual. They are a good investment.
Here are a few basic things you can check:
unplug the harness
key ON
check for 12v on the terminal of the pink wire (cavity "A")
check for 5v on the terminal of the yellow wire (cavity "C")
cavity "B" will have 0-5v dependent on the output of the opti
make sure the wiring for the sensor is not routed next to a spark plug wire
