Question service engine light?

OKay well while hooking up a manual fan switch, my check engine light came on. I made the mistake of splicing into the high speed fan after the relay, instead of before it, and when i did this the light came on. No i have fixed the problem and spliced it in the right spot. But the light still is on. Should the light go off by itself once the problem is fixed? ( cause i hooked all the wires to stock form and it still stayed on) Or do i have to have the light turned off even if the problem is fixed?

Disconnect the battery for a minute or so.

Did changing the wire splice spot solve the on/off problem for the fans?
