Serious Questions on CC306 and XE 230/236 cams please help

First off I have done a search on this topic and all i can find is a bunch of crap like CC306 you have to rev it to the moon to get power out of it, or XE 230/236 its real hard on the valve train ect... I`m not looking for a pissing contest here. I would like those that own that particular cam w\ ported heads to comment on what they have w\out talking crap about the other cam unless they have actually had it in their car.

I would also really like to see some dyno graps, you can email them to me at stormtroopen@erols.com if you don`t want to post them up here.

I would like to know were the power is on these cams what rpm peak hp is and peak torque also were they start to fall off up top. What hp and torque numbers are on both at 3800rpm as I have a 3500 stall(stalls to 3800) and what they are at 6000 and 6500.

I`m looking for serious input here, not bashing of the other guys cam. Or heresay. So please help if you can.

I have the XE230/236 and to be honest, I love it.

IMO, its a very streetable cam as it cruises around town at 1500rpms without problems and I still get 23mph on the highway. Midrange is decent, but it really starts to shine at 4k or so all the way up to 6700. I haven't had the car on a dyno, as these assessments were made via my butt-o-meter.

I've never driven a car w/ a 306 but I've ridden in a buddies 96 LT4 Vette w/ one. That car is flat out fast... He spins it to 69xx btw...

You really can't go wrong either way...

Oh yeah, my valvetrain consists of Comp R lifters, Comp 'moly rods, CC Pro Magnum rockers and 987 dual springs...

I have heard rumors that the XE Grinds "may" be hard on valvetrain components due to their steep lobe angle, but I have never heard of any board memebers having ANY problems, or issues whatsoever, I myself have the 230/236, on a 110lsa, and it oozes torque across the powerband, and pulls like a train above 3500...oh, and all this without a tune yet

I have a XE 230/236 on a 110LSA as well. It pulls hard 4000+ RPMs. I have no complaints, but I have never drove a car with a CC306.

Same here, using GM Lifters, and when it gets nicer out, and I get a tune, I will beat the **** out of my car to see what it can take

306 person here. It makes decent power down low but really comes alive above 3000. It really requires heads, headers, and a good tune to all work properly. Gas mileage is not too punishing. Has a very lopey idle, brakes can be an issue in traffic as vacuum drops off very quickly, sounds mean as hell, a definite head turner. With all my mods, I'm guessing in the 380-420 hp range. I find it very streetable.

Thought the question was about the XE 230/236 or CC 306.....

I have the XE 230/236, and yes it revs to the moon.I have cracked one valve, bent a pushrod, and went through a set of springs in one season.I plan on installing a hydra rev kit in the future, and would higly recomend you doing so if you go this route.

Come on guys I need some specifics, hasn`t anyone dynoed there car w\ heads and these cams? I would think everyone w\ these 2 large cams would get dyno tuned. Mail order tune and you won`t get the most out of it. I would really like to know RWHP and RWTQ numbers at 3800rpm, 5000rpm and 6500rpm for each cam as long as they have ported heads, headers and bigger TB. If you don`t wanna post em could you email them to me, graphs would be even better.

Thanks for all the input so far, I just need things a little more specific.

6100lbs!?! ? So, you're pushing something like 660hp to run what you are? I think you need to put your car on a diet!

Cracked valve! Bent pushrod!!! I can't wait, my 230/236 comes on friday, hehe..

I guess it depends which one you have the xl which is the .510 .520 one must be a little easier on the valvetrain but none the less should produce some crazy power.
