Serious Engine Problem

I've driven my car for near 1000 miles since i bought it. I just realized that i have a blown head gasket and i believe it was blown when i bought the car. The gasket is leaking coolent into the oil and vice versa. Should i be ok just doing the head gasket fix or has the extra wear on the engine screwed up my bearings by now, or should they fail soon?

There are too many variables to say one way or another. How bad is it leaking? How hard have you driven it?What kind of condition was it in prior?Hows the oil pressure......etc....All I can tell you is what I would do.That is do the head gaskets, change the oil.Drive it a bit, change oil...pray.. Good luck.

I drove it fast but not really hard, never above 5500 rpm. But i dont know how the person i bought it from drove it, or how long its been driven with the blown gasket. Also if i get down to the head gasket, ill prolly end up getting them P&P and do a cam swap. I dont know if i want to risk it on a beat up bottom end.

replace head gasket, drain and FLUSH all coolant, change oil, drive easy 500 miles, change oil, pray

I bought it from a guy. Im reeally pissed because it is very obvious when you change the oil that something is really f'ed up.

The oil pressure is fine, How do think the engine would hold up if i did a cam swap while i am doing the head gaskets?

You might want to have the heads checked to make sure they're not warped, cracked or damaged first. If all is well, the cam swap should be fine. If the heads are messed up you may be able to have them machined, or find new/used ones. Used LT1 heads are dirt cheap, check the for sale section or even E- bay!

Good time to do one....youll have the heads and intake off allready. Do as was mentioned and have the heads checked out....they will most likely need to be milled to true them at least.
