Sepentine Alignment?

Having trouble throwing belts. What's the best way to check belt/pully alignment? I have tried with no success.

I believe my crank hub is too far deep on my Scat crank. I have had problems with my Madman alt brackets and relocated alternator setup with pwr steering. IOW, I'm pretty sure its the crank pulley.

Cool Re: Sepentine Alignment?

If it flys off at High RPM, rev it up and try to determine where it is comming off. If it is comming off the alternator, you may have to fabricate a small metal belt guide and attatach it to the lower alt bolt about 1/16" outside the belt so that when it stretches at hi rpm it will be prevented from jumping the alt belt.

I just happen to remember that a guy had this problem and that is how he fixed it (just in case it happens to be the same problem). Probably isn't, however I can fax you the little article and the diagram if it comes to that.

May be a stupid suggestion, but did you check the tensioner? My old one was giving tension, but nearly enought so i was having the same problem, replaced the tensioner and its all good now. good luck -Jeff

Re: Sepentine Alignment?

Thanks guys. I tried evening up the pulley's with a straight edge and after a couple trial and errors, my accessory bracket broke! . Frustrating, but at least it didn't happen while I was driving.

As we say in Texas, "Man, that'd REALLY suck!"
