Seeking info

okay i had feul probs, and had to pull the tank so i had to cut my exhust off well really just the mufflers. it sounded good so i decieded to drive it and it seemed to pull soo much harder and faster through the rpm.

but if i have put welded my exhust back on and know i want to cut it back off. would it be safe to cut it off in front of the rear axles and run no muffleres. would it have enough back pressure to go on say a 5 hr trip. any info will help.

You don,t have to worry about the backpressure, noise is all your gonna have to deal with.
In my opinion real gearheads love loud cars.
Of course some of us don,t have to drive them everyday.

If you cut it before the axle the pipe is going to flop all around. Cut it where it goes into the muffler under the gas tank, I ran my car like that for MONTHS. I put a flowcrapper on there and lost .2 tenths and 1-2mph over it being open. So the next week I cut it off and sold it.
