Try getting a new key made, the resistor in the key gets worn down and can cause the secuirty light to come on. I had this problem and after getting a new key, my problem was solved. Or you could just have VATS programmed out for good.

No, not true at all. the secuirty light indicates a fault in the VATS (vehicle anti-theft system). If your car starts and the light comes on then the fault occurred after the car was started and will allow the car to start and opearet normally. however, if the system detects a fault before the car is started it wont allow it to start at all. So, the problem could stay the same and allow you to drive the car,or it could get worse and leave you walking oneday. There are numerous threads on this subject, search away

You are lucky that it comes on when you start the car. There will be times (very few so far) that I go out into my car and I get in and the security light is on. Then I wait about 10-15 mins for it to go away before I can even start my car.

Re: securtiy light

The cheapest way to fix the problem would be to just use a resistor matching your key chip in the connector for the vats module. Peace, Dustin.

Programming won't work completely. Do a search. I had a similiar problem as you do with my VATS coming on while driving the car. The resistor mod fixed it.
