How much of a difference do 1.6 Roller Rockers make?

I have a 95 Z28 and the engine is basically stock. I notice that many of the people visiting this site have the 1.6 Roller Rocker arms and double valve springs. How much power could these possibly add?

Also thinking of buying the throttle body airfoil. Is it worth it?

Rockers and springs are worth it. Double springs are not necessary, you can use GM LT4 springs. Noticeable SOTP improvement. Airfoil gives 1 to 2 hp according to what I've read.

Some people seem to have more luck with 1.6RR than others.
I can hardly feel any difference at all.
Start with a mail tune and cold air intake - bigger gains, less money
and a lot less work.

changing springs is not necessary at all with 1.6 rr's. it all depends. on a stock motor in and out, u wont see too much. maybe 5-8rwhp. on a stock motor with good exhaust and intake, you can see 10-15rwhp. II strongly recomend 1.6 rr's since they are something to build on. any good performance setup will require them, or some other kind of full roller rocker arm. i'd recomend getting a good exhaust, 1.6 pro mag rr's, and a good intake system. on top of that, get a mail order tune. you'll see 40-55rwhp gains from these. having long tubes and a good intake help out 1.6 rocker arms. since you have more lift to work with, a mail order tune can get you more power. good exhaust, good intake, higher lift=more airflow for madz28.com, pcmforless.com or whoever else to work with. this means more power. those are the first mods i would do to any stocker.

Go with the 1.7 Scorpions RRs and Beehive Springs. I gained loads of torque. so much that when I smash the gas as certain rpms the whole body twistes quiet a bit if I am on 2nd or 3rd gear. On first it just feel like a smooth rush with a neck snapping 2nd gear kick.

I dont have a CAI yet so I guess I am chocking the car at high RPMs but they were worth every penny of it.

Going with 1.6s, at least on the exhaust side, along with stronger springs is just a good idea. Stock springs prevent top end performance and, if anything, LT1s are more restricted on the exhaust side. Going with RRs makes for a more stable valve train.

A good exhaust system, 1.6s on the exhaust side, stronger springs, a CAI and a tune will wake up a stocker without breaking the bank. JMHO

TB air foil probably not worth the money. Wait til you do heads and cam and step up to a 52/54 mm with built-in air foil.

Spending money on things that claim 1-2 hp here and there is, in my opinion, a waste of money that would be better spent on mods that get you a true 10+ hp without going internal.

Where do you buy Scorpion roller rockers for LT1's?
Will adding these rockers with a stock cam give similar results as an LT4 hot cam in terms of lift.
Thanks

Re: How much of a difference do 1.6 Roller Rockers make?

I have the 1.7 scorpian RR's on my car with upgraded valvtrain and it was a totally different animal. I do however have the supporting mods as well, LT's, True Duel's with Bullets, 3:73's, 3000 stall MTI lid(Ls1 induction),E-WP and many more bolt-ons, and chassis mods. I have no problem pulling bolt-on LS1 auto cars and can usually beat a lot of LS1 6-speed cars with bolt-ons. With the 1.7RR's the lift is increased to .510 .521 if I remember correctly. In a way the 1.7RR's is like puttin a small cam in a LT1 without the worry of messing up the install and hurting the engine. Main reason I did these RR's.
I always think of the LT1 with 1.7RR's has the edge on the LS1 as far as cam lift goes in stock form, but they still have better flowing heads, lol.

I think your install link is busted
Where did you get the rockers?
