i have had this problem before when the light comes on and disables you from starting the car. NOW heres my problem, the light is on with the key out of the ignition, it will stay on all night and day, doesnt flash or anything. when i put the key in to start it the light goes off and starts fine. i know you may say that the key and tumbler is at fault but i have had no signs of failure prior to this. is there a way to shut this light off.

 

Try to reprogram the keyless entry remote(s). Myabe that will reset the light. I think these are the steps: turn car on, then off. take out radio fuse, turn car on/off 3 times within 5 seconds. Locks and hatch should pop, press and hold lock/unlock on remote until doors lock or unlock, can't remember. replace radio fuse and it should be OK. Not sure if it works for all the years. You could also try to dosconnect your battery. Maybe that will work. Good Luck!

 

when you say turn the car on, do you mean key in the ON position or start the car?. has anyone ever done this

 

Sorry about that! I meant turn the key to the RUN position. not turn the car on. I'll try to be a little clearer next time. I did do this, and it works.
