Seating the Rings on a new Motor

Just a quick question from you guys experienced with new motors. Just got a stroker back together and I noticed that I'm getting a little "positive" pressure in the valve cover area, small amount of smoke coming from my breathers - I have one breather in each valve cover.

I was thinking this might be caused by the rings not seating yet. Is this a normal occurence, or should I be concerned.

Thx.

I assum that by saying you have two breathers, that means you have no PCV, in that case the smoke is normal. You should have the pcv hooked up.

Re: Seating the Rings on a new Motor

How would I do that, (hook up the PCV), the throttle body I'm running, AS&M Monoblade, has no provision for the vacuum hose that ran from the passenger side valve cover?

Thanks for the reply BTW, I was hoping someone I recognized as actually knowledgeable would reply.

Yes. You're talking about the "U" shaped hose right. And before anyone mentions un-metered air, It's a 93, no MAF.

After last night about 90 miles. Didn't see much evidence of blow by last night, at least there was no oil around the breathers.

I will. I'm going to put about 500 miles on it using a mail order tune that I got from PCMForless. After that I'll get it to a dyno and do it right. It's certainly running a little rich right now, kind of waters your eyes when you're standing behind it.

Beat the snott out it. On these newer motors they seat pretty quick.

I am running a bit big on my ring gap so I can spray it. (hopefully one day) I started the new motor, set the rockers with it running. Changed the oil. And have driven it like normal since.
