it wont turn off!even if i have my seat belt on it stays on.i unplugged the connector at the bottom of the seat belt to c if it would turn off but it still wont.its annoying and id prefer not to take the dash apart and pull the bulb out.any ideas??

BTW-if it makes any difference it started the same time my igniton switch went bad and i have a 95 z28 a4.

If it was the ignition switch a variety of other lights should stay on too. Unplugging the sensor on the belt won't make the circuit. Try this, Unplug the sensor as you did befor, Run a Jumper (a peice of wire from the two metal tabs on the conector and start the car. IF the light goes off you know the problem lies inside the belt, if the ligjt stays on, you know the problem lies somewhere else, you may need to run a new wire.

im not understanding what u r saying.the igniton switch has already been fixed.but now the light for my seat belt wont go out when the car is running.i never used to wear a seat belt so i would unplug the plug at the bottom of the belt and it would turn off even when my belt wasnt on.but now its unplugged and its still on.so i dont think its a problem in the belt.where else could a problem arise on that circuit?

Ok ignore the part about the switch. Did you try the jumper wire to determine where the problem lies? I'm not exactly sure where that wire runs, but maybe it has gotten bent wrong or frayed over time and no longer carries continuity. I am more inclined to think that the problem lies either in the conector or the buckle.

i had a thought that my chime actually stopped at the same time so i pulled it out and my light turned off--so it looks like maybe the chime went bad.ill try and swap it with another one and c if that cures it.

I've got racing harness with no factory seat belts. The plug is not connected and I still have the seatbelt light. My door chime works.
