Sealant on Head Gasket?
Getting ready to put my heads back on....
Looking at the stock gm gasket set I took off, looks like there is thread sealant ON the gasket around some of the holes (light yellow in color, about 1/4 inch around holes).
Should I put sealant around the same holes with the new gaskets, or just put them on? Haven't read or seen anything about doing that.
Thanks.

You need to get some ARP Thread Sealant to put on your head bolt or stud threads, that is what you see on your old gasket.
You have to do this because most of the bolts/studs go directly into the water jacket and if you donn't seal them water can leak past them and you'll soon be changing heads gaskets or worse(totally rebuilding engine if water and oil mix and u ruin the bearings).

Okay.
I have the bolts, and they have sealant on them, but no where near enough to squeeze out the hole and get onto the gasket when you tighten it down.
As long as the consensus is no sealant needs to be added to any area on the gasket itself, I will not use any.
Thanks.
