Seafoam question

After seafoaming my car, and starting it up for the first time, I got a small cloud of smoke, not much bigger than a small firework amount of smoke, for maybe 10 seconds. I was planning on tracking down an exhaust leak using the smoke, but I didn't even have a chance to get out of the car before it stopped smoking. There was little puffs of smoke out of the tailpipe after that, but nowhere near the amount I have seen in videos, or read about. I poured the seafoam into a 3/4 full gas tank, was this the reason I didn't get much smoke? I guess my real question is, is what causes all the smoke?

I used this guide for using seafoam: http://members.nuvox.net/~on.roz/cars/z28/seafoam.html
I used the correct amounts for everything. Half in the brake booster line, half in the engine oil, one full bottle in the gas tank, and a bunch of deep creep into the intake manifold.

Oh, I know. I wanted it to smoke ALOT because I needed to track down an exhaust leak. Every video and description I've heard is that there is a large cloud of smoke. I expected mine to do the same, especially since it has 75k miles on the engine. One thing I didn't do: I didn't stall out the engine after I poured half into the brake booster line, I just turned the ignition off. Maybe enough seafoam didn't build up?

Ouch. I'm not too worried though because I'm putting in a cam this weekend so alot of the gaskets are gonna get replaced. Hopefully my head gasket holds haha.

transmission fluid in a vacuum line will make smoke out the exhaust, but be carefull don't use too much it builds up quick. I did it in a 3 stall shop and the guy working on the car next to mine had to leave the shop it was smoking him out too bad.

If you wanted it to smoke you did it wrong. In order to get all the smoke and what not you have to let the seafoam be sucked in through the brake booster, shut your car off and let it sit for 5-10 minutes then start it back up and keep the car reved to the 2000-2500 area untill it stops about 5-10 minutes.

Oh, you mean the Seafoam weapon of mass destruction mushroom cloud of death.
I have used the stuff and I think it works well, I did my Dads Jeep of 120K miles and the entire garage as well as the front of my house was engulfed by the cloud. My neighbors were coming over to see if the garage was on fire while I was out front sitting in my chair chugging a beer. I wish I had video taped this cleaning, it was impressive. The cloud is normal especially for a dirty motor, if you dont get a huge cloud then the combustion chambers must be fairly clean.

I think it would be "da bomb" to rig up a remote that will inject seafoam into the running intake similar to nitrous so you can have smoke cloud on demand while driving. This would take care of tail gaters. LOL

Every time I have used seafoam on a car it smoked like hell the second time I used it, not the first.

That's interesting - I just did it for the second time and the cloud was tremendously larger. (In retrospect, I should have checked for the mailman behind the car before starting it - he had a bit of a shocked look on ~what I saw~ of his face)

I did stall the motor this time - which I didn't last time. I buried the suction into the liquid to stall it and it just kept on drinking without stalling. Went through more like 3/4 of the can before it finally quit.
