SD High Idle: Tried IAC, O2 and vacuum lines
SD High Idle: Tried IAC, O2 and vacuum lines
My P.O.S. has been idling high for a really long time and I've tried a lot of things lately to try and get it back down to where it should be.
About 2 months ago I tried replacing the IAC and when I installed it and reset the cpu it idled right about where it should've. As soon as I took it for a test drive it started idling high again.
Last month I had Tony Bishop(local tuner) tune my car and he had his laptop hooked up to the diagnostic port and it said one of my right side O2 was bad. I replaced the right O2 sensor and it idled down for a bit, and I drove it afterwards and guess what...it idled around 1500. So problem not fixed, again!
I was talking to another local tuner about it and he said it sounded like a vacuum leak. I found like 6 lines that were loose and connected them were they go and capped off the one's that I couldnt find. I cranked the car up and it idled at about 1400 for a few seconds then settled down to about 1000. I thought I fixed it...again. So I took it for a ride and gave it a few 5-6k rpm runs and it came down and settled at about 2k rpm's(it's done that as long as I've had the car). So I came back and popped the hood to let it cool down some and maybe pull the TB off, and check the IAC passages. I'm really frustrated at the car and am almost to the point where I want to cover it in a thick, flammable paste and watch it burn to the ground.
Any suggestions?

Re: SD High Idle: Tried IAC, O2 and vacuum lines
I don't think that could be a problem because it will idle at the sppropriate RPM when it wants to, so I don't think that's the culprit.
Although, I have tried that when I first was getting the problem.

Yeah, it's called setting the base idle. Do that ASAP. I forgot how to do it myself, but it's more complicated then just turning the screw a little bit.
