OK, my trans went again. 3rd time in 3 years. Atleast this time my trans mount is still intact.(energy suspension ) Ok so heres my question. Im tired of this thing breaking and costing me 1500 a pop. I learned about lt1 dave.com and his rebuilds from this site. What I wanna know is do I have to send him my old trans? Or can he just build the stage 3 for me using a trans he has,and charge me a core, and I send him mine when i get the stage 3 from him?

Dave is good, and another recomendation is Frank (12SCNDZ), Frank did mine and he does real good stuff, he been doing performance trans' for a long time, and developed a good following on here and other forums. I sent mine to him, I'm not sure if he or Dave, can build without the core. I am pretty sure that Franks prices are based off your trans. Follow the link in my sig to get more info.

I actually just talked to frank today. Seemed like a real great guy, and I decided to let him rebuild it. Good prices, and really sounded like he knew my trans. Thanks for the reply

Re: Score: Transmission 3, John 0

Obviously a lil different situation, but I grenaded 2 'built' 700R4's on my 93 after turbocharging my car. I got pretty tired of it and went to a TCI built reverse manual vb +tbrake TH400 w/Gear Vendors unit. The initial cost was more than most people would like, but its been solid for 1.5 year now. I originally just had the 400, and sprung for the GV unit 2-3 months later. Mostly because I don't tow my car to the track, and in Iowa I have to drive 2 hours to the nearest 1/4.

All in all though I spent more on the two 700R4's.... which lasted 3-4 months per tranny.

Just food for thought! I realize th400 isnt for everyone, and the manual shifting can get old in traffic, but I don't drive the car much.
