Scoggin-Dickey LT-1 Shotrblock
Scoggin-Dickey LT-1 Shotrblock
I'll be in the market for a new shortblock soon. I saw this in their add in my GMHTP magazine. 4 bolt main LT-1 replacement for $1800. From what i gather it's not rebuilt, which is a bonus. This is probably 1000-1200 cheaper than what i could put together myself, and then i would have to worry about getting high quality machine work, which isn't guaranteed. Would probably add a hotcam and LE1 heads, and call it a day. What do you all think?
Re: Scoggin-Dickey LT-1 Shotrblock
That is a good deal if they have good components. I cant find the $1800 short block on their website. Could you post a link to that short block so I can check out the components. I'm wanting to buy a built short block preferably 4 bolt main and then put LE1 heads and cam on it.
Thanks
Thanks

You might want to double check your part numbers.
There are, as far as I know; only two LTx short blocks that Scoggin-Dickey sells. One is a 10.4:1 compression version and the other is an 11.8:1 version. Both cost $4,485.00
BTW, both are nice shortblocks and would make fine foundations for a new engine, although you can spend less money. There are also minor differences between those short blocks and the ones most people build. Nothing that will matter if you never plan to rebuild it, but the parts selection on the inside is slightly different.

Re: Scoggin-Dickey LT-1 Shotrblock
I'm pretty sure that is a stock GM short block. They used to have it in thier ad's for $1799 a few years ago. I had heard they were sold out quite awhile ago. Give 'em a call & see what they say
Re: Scoggin-Dickey LT-1 Shotrblock
The one for $1799 is a 4 bolt main Corvette replacement like the ones GM used to do warranty repairs. It has cast crank, pm rods and hyperucraptic pistons, that said for the price if you're not going to be spraying your car it makes for a stout street motor with a heads & cam package and you get 4 bolt mains to boot.
Re: Scoggin-Dickey LT-1 Shotrblock
Are the pistons the same as in my 97? If so my engine was on a 150 shot for 2 years after jetting from a 100 TnT. I will call and buy one in less than 24 hours if shipping isnt that bad.I thought since it wasnt on line that they were gone myself.
