Scary Day...Oil Pressure Sensor Broke

I was driving to class today when I noticed a giant cloud of smoke in my rear view mirror. Looked down at the gauges and oil pressure read 0. So of course I paniced and stopped the car immediately. I opened up the hood to find a large amount of oil all over the back of the engine.

I was already running late for class, so I just called someone for a ride. Longest class ever...during which instead of atually paying attention, I thought of what the hell could have broken to cause my oil pressure to drop to 0 and start burning oil. I thought to myself...maybe the oil pressure sensor, but naww thats way to easy of a fix for me, I most likely blew up the top end.

After class I called a friend to bring his truck and trailer to at least get my car home just in case. When I got back to the car, I finally had time to diagnose the problem. Sure enough, the plastic of the sensor disconnected from the metal part and spewed oil all over. 20 minutes later after running to the local parts store, cars fixed.

Moral of the story...stock 100,000 mile oil pressure sensor on a 385 stroker with a HV oil pump is never a good idea.

Hahah wow ... That had to scare ya.

When I bought my car totaled and rebuilt it, the stock oil pressure gauge was cracked from the wreck. I didnt know it, started the car up, and had oil gushing everywhere. So I know what a mess that can be lol.
