scanning question

My SES light has been on for a WHILE now, and I want to pull the codes from the ecu, but here is the problem, I'm about to install a 95 ecu in my 97 (OBD II to OBD I conversion) and I only have an actron code scanner (from napa parts) for a 95 camaro with the 12? pin connection. as I understand it, the 97 has a 16? pin connection. how can I make this work? how can I code-scan my 97 car if it has a 95 ecu without buying an lt1 scanmaster? thanks.

well if you have laptop then you could get yourself a cable and freescan or the trial version of datamaster... cables are about $65.

or what you could do is rewire your code scanner so it works on the 16-pin connector. go to Robs(shoebox) tech webpage listed in his sig and there if you look you will find where the wires need to go on that 16-pin.

Yeah, tons of stuff! That's why I read this board (and other things), so I can learn. The are many people that post that have great knowledge about all kinds of different things.
