Scanmaster: DTC Codes 18, 36, 46, 51

Tonight on my way home from work, my scanmaster was throwing the following codes:

18 Injector circuit(s)
36 Distributor ignition system (faulty high resolution pulse or extra low resolution pulse detected)
46 Pass-Key®II circuit
51 EEPROM programming error

Any thoughts?

Fred

Diodes in the alternator are breaking down allowing AC on the supply line. Measure from the negative terminal of the battery to the output post of the alternator with the meter set to AC. If they are bad, the reading will be 0.03 VAC or higher. This leaking AC will cause any PCM to go nuts and do all sorts of things. If you change the alternator, unless you changed the belt and idler tensioner recently, change them too.

Bad power or ground connections would do it also but there are several of each on the PCM and I doubt that is the problem. You should however check all the connections at the battery and the frame and the engine. Remove them, look at the contact points and shine up both the connector and the mounting point.
