The scanner said my opti is grounded. Anyone know what that means?

What was the exact code? The only codes directly related to the Opti are DTC 16 and DTC 36 for the low and high res pulses. "Grounding" sounds like one of the codes related to the ignition control module (ICM) - e.g. DTC 42, although this can relate to problems with the distributor.

 

It was code 42 EST grounded. Could it be my coil, because i never switched to a 94 coil when i converted my 93 motor into a 94. The connector pluged right in though.

 

93-95 coils are all the same - dual-connector.

There is a fairly complex "logic tree" in the shop manual for sorting out all the possible causes of DTC 42. Almost impossible to describe.... you need to get a copy of the chart.

 

where would you find a copy of this? I am getting a code 42 and can't figure it out.
