one part i dont understand is why a different kmember is needed. the mounts should be the same. someone with more knowledge will chime in.

I do believe the motor mounts are the same, but your definetly going to have issues with clearing the hood due to the carb. Maybe get a cowl hood or something of the sort.

Sorry to bring this up but I am putting a SBC 350 into my 94 firebird and I don't know what to do for mounts, does the LT1 block and sbc block share mounting locations? If so is all I have to do is use my lt1 mounts? I was under the impression that the LT1 mounts were different from regular SBC mounts but then someone told me that while they were different the blocks had the same mounting position. On the other hand though I have heard that the LT1 mounts are offset and the mounts don't use the same mounting holes as a SBC.

LT1s can use SBC mounts, but a SBC doesn't have the needed holes for LT1 mounts

BUT, since the difference is only on the pass. side, bolt it to the drivers side and modify the pass side mount to fit

How can you mod the passenger side? Can you just drill holes in it or do I need to wield more material to the base of the mount first before I can add the needed holes? Thanks for answering my question, your the first person who has gave me an answer here or on ls1tech.

Generally not a good idea to highjack someone else's thread. Best to start your own thread.

you will need to weld a plate to the mount, since only 2 of the SBC mount holesa will line up, add a plate with a hole to reach the third

heres the idea

SBC uses 3 bolts to atach the mount, two at the top, one at the bottom, in a triangle

LT1 has these 3, but one more behind the bottom one, the two center holes are shared between the 2 engines(the front lower hole on the LT1 is used to attach a brace for the A/C compressor)

Is this a race car? If so you may want to look into motor plates.....saves a few pounds and wayyyy easier to pull the motor

just get the moroso solids they would be easy to modify.....

do you have any fabrication skills? if so look into tthe smith motor mounts or madmans...you could make something similar but just make the block mount plate to fit yours

I got the moroso solid mounts but ended up returning them cause I couldnt figure out what I needed, the solid mounts are both the clam shell type thing but I need one of the clam shell style mounts and one of the ones that go around them? How would the Moroso mounts work?
