Exclamation sbc head gasket on lt1

I put head gaskets on my camaro and didn't notice the shop gave my a SBC gasket kit until I went to put intake on. Will SBC head gaskets fit lt1? I do not think so due to reverse cooling. I wanted tobe sure before I took the heads back off
Thanks dustyn

Hopefully others will chime in, but I'm pretty sure those head gaskets will not work with an LT1 block and heads

Me ether just wondering if anyone knows for sure. Tome it looks like the lt1 has 5 coolant passages and SBC only has 3 not sure though

The gaskets will NOT work. Below are pictures of the difference. Its not much, and I'm not saying that they can't be modified, IMO I'd just get LT1 gaskets.

Both:

SBC:

LT1 w/ 350 gasket

As you can see, the coolant ports are shaped differently. I'm surprised Fred didn't chime in yet.

I'm surprised anyone would even ask the question.

Re: sbc head gasket on lt1

Some guys have actually modded .015 sbc shim gaskets to use on the LT1 for more compression.
In those instances though they are "making" a product not otherwise offered.

If you need a gasket around .026, .029, .039, or .049 there are LT1 specific gaskets offered in all those thicknesses and I am sure more even without considering custom Cometic which can be had I believe in anything .027 or thicker.
