saving a waterlogged engine

i posted a threat earlier about my car getting wrecked in a creek... that was about 3 days ago. since then i have drained the oil, removed the spark plugs and put penetrating oil in all the cylinders. cranked the engine a little bit. what else should i do before irrepairable rust sets in

thanks josh

You should get that thing running right away. Get the water out, keep changing the oil until it comes out clean, and let the car run until it warms up. The longer you wait the worse your problem. You have to get it running and warmed up to get all the moisture out of it.

Was the engine cranked over while there was water in the cylinders? If so it may be toast. I've seen it happen and connecting rods were bent and broken and teeth were stripped off the flywheel.
Get it started although you may very likely need a new opti..

Yep, even if you sneeze too close to the opti, it will go sour.
