sat for a week now no spark!!!
i already did a search, it says the word "no" is to common to use, so needless to say, "no spark" turns up a very broad result with spark being the only word used. so heres what happend, i started my car last weekend to pull it out of the garage to get out of my way for another project, it started to die slowly like it was running out of gas, the gauge said just above e, so that is definitely possible. i put in 5 gallons yesterday and changed the ect in the water pump, because the plug was all f*cked up on it, i went to start the car and nothing happened. i pulled off a plug wire and i have no spark. i checked cylinders 3,5, and 4. none of them had spark. i crawled under the car and there was no antifreeze on the opti but it did appear to have oil on the outside of it. i was wondering what other sensors could make it not have spark. is it possible for a coil or ignition module to die overnight like that? (they are both new last summer.) thanks

Dude ... Just last nite I read a post on this site of a guy who was driving his car and then Bam!! it just died.... dead meat.... thats it... you know what I mean? so anyway.. he said the it turned out to be the opty.. The oil seals gave way and oil rushed into the opty and coated the optical disk and some oil was sitting inside too...
Also... I had the same problem happen to me on a Ford Escort GT... one time I went to moms house.... parked and went inside for 2 hrs... came out and the car was dead... done... stiff... it turned out to be the ignition mudule...
Next time about 8 months later... same Escortk, I was driving in town and I was midway making a right hand side turn when the car just died.... just like that.. It turned out to be the ignition module again.... this time I had to pay a tow truck and a mechanic cause I was about 40miles away from home and my tools.... it was quicker and cheaper that way.
Ford is in court because of that module keep popping up just like that...
So to answer your question... yes it can happen... now check your fuses and check for spark at the ignition coil before you go buyin stuff..

That was probably my optispark you read about lol
You should see if the coil wire is throwing a spark, that would let you know if it was the coil or the ICM. Very possible that if there is oil is on the outside/bottom of the opti that it could be comprimised. I'd check all of the lower cost stuff first though.
