I am doing an opti and waterpump replacement this weekend and I have everything off and was wondering if it would be safe to spray some degreaser on the engine and hose it off. I know you shouldnt do that when the Opti is installed, but since it is removed I think I should be safe. I would cover up any openings in the block and the throttle body, and cover the computer. Does this sound like its possible or should I avoid doing this. I would really like to clean this engine up, as it has over 100k worth of dirt and grime on it. But I dont want to damage anything in the process.

just make sure you plug the hole where the opti went. I have a friend that didn't and he got a lot of water in the oil. Then he had to do an unnecessary oil change.
