Safe To Use RTV On Header Gaskets?

Well my copper header gaskets have 1 or 2 small leaks, if I put the copper RTV (supposedly 1200 degrees protection) will it melt off or do anything unwanted? Any info would be greatly appriciated, thanks.

Just a for instance, my EGT gauge generally reads about 1200 degrees at cruise, so the RTV isn't going to last very long.

well all Ive heard is bad stories about those copper gaskets. Id just replace them w/felpro's if your worried about wasting time. if you got the time to spare, why not try it? make sure its high temp stuff though. I know that stuff works fine w/paper gaskets (cause Ive done it before on a cheap set of headers that warped the flange). you really shouldnt need that stuff for the paper gaskets though.

Well if the RTV doesn't work I was planning on using a set of felpros instead.
