SAFC II in a camaro?

I have never seen this done before, Will a SAFC II work in a 93 camaro?... I beleive the SAFC II has a option for running speed density. Reason I ask is cuz I could pick one of these up for next to nothing, my buddy has a LM1, so I could at some point do free street tunes by myself and the cool thing about the SAFC II is you can play with A/F settings whenever you want from in the car....

Re: SAFC II in a camaro?

Just thinking out loud here- from what I've heard the stock PCM actually learns and adjusts to changes made. For instance, if you put a fuel pressure regulator on your car, and lower the fuel pressure a little to lean it out, the PCM will actually adjust how long the injector stays open to get the mixture back to where it was before. This sort of scenario might come into play here depending on how the SAFC II works.

Have you ever thought about a MAF translator?

Nope, link was dead for me. I did a google search for "SAFC II" and looked at a website called "hopup racing" that had the SAFC stuff. And in looking I saw they had BBK TB's for us guys for $309 shipped!

Re: SAFC II in a camaro?

LOL, wow..... can't beleive people haven't even heard of SAFCs (super air fuel controller), they have been around forever.. If it pretty much a piggyback system that you hook up that creates a false rich/lean condition to your PCM, and then your PCM responds by adding or removing fuel. Also can change idle, knock, and a ton of other things, along with using the displays for a tachometer, throttle position, etc. Its pretty neat and seems to work in a TON of cars, seems to be almost universal. They have been around for quite a few years (traditionally used on riceburners), I thinnk there is 4 models, the SAFC II being the newest. Here is a link.... http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/apexi_safc_ii.html. I kinda wanna try hooking it up (my friend with the LM1 wideband also has one of these that I could borrow for a couple days if it work, but i'm not sure it usable on a camaro?

my car doesn't have a MAF, it runs off of speed density, Plus you can do so much more with a SAFC II.

or you can spend $50 to get a MadZ28 computer tune which accomplishes everything you mentioned plus more for about 1/6 of the price.

Re: SAFC II in a camaro?

The safc's are commonly used on turbo dsm's to tune along with an egt gauge. Not really sure if it will work on a f body. If you have a laptop you can get tunercat for $90 along with datamaster and that should do more than a safc II.
